Karen A. Parkin is an ABA teacher at The Victory Center, a school for children with autism, in North Miami Beach, Florida. She also coordinates the Saturday Laugh’n Learn Outreach Program and After Care Program. Karen has a B.S. in Psychology from Florida International University and a M.S. in Counseling with a concentration in applied behavior analysis. Karen has been working in the field of behavior therapy, specializing in verbal behavior, since 2008. She is looking forward to furthering her career by becoming a board certified behavior analyst.

Proposed Project:

This project will utilize visuals for interest-based grouping to promote social interactions with children with autism. The teacher will be using visual prompts, such as, question cards, response cards, and other visuals so that typical children will learn how to interact with children with autism.
