This Eighth Annual Autism Summer Institute is presented to you by the Florida Department of Education (DOE) and the Partnership for Effective Programs for Students with Autism (PEPSA) in collaboration with the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) at USF, and Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and Polk County School Districts.

The Institute will focus on Instructional Strategies for academic, communication, inclusion, sensory integration, social supports, and literacy. Target audience: ESE and general education teachers, SLPs, OTs, school staff, administrators, and parents.

PLEASE NOTE: Handouts will not be printed and distributed at the training. YOU will be responsible for downloading handouts for the Sessions you plan on attending. Therefore, if you prefer to have a printed handout with you, you must print your own.

Credits

Training Evaluation/ Certificate of Attendance:
After the institute, all participants will receive a training evaluation via email. Please assist us by taking a few minutes to complete this evaluation. At the conclusion of the evaluation you will be asked your overall ratings and to provide additional comments. After which, you will be able to view and print your Certificate of Attendance.

The Pinellas County Schools, OT/PT Programs Office, will be handling the paperwork submitted to CE Broker for OT, OTA, PT, and PTA participants interested in receiving the approved number of CEUs.  All OT/PT conference participants seeking continuing education credits must report to the Continuing Education Table at the beginning of the conference to receive the packet necessary to assure that you receive credit for all sessions. Turn in the paperwork to the Continuing Education Sign-in Table at the close of the concurrent sessions on Monday, August 4th and at the close of the 2-day presentation, Wednesday, August 6th.

Inservice Components/Credits for Educators:
Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk County will have a representative on site in order to coordinate inservice components/credits for their district’s staff. All other district staff are responsible for sending the required documentation to their Staff Development Contact in order to apply for in-service components/ points. PRINT the attached form ‘Session Verification Sheet” and bring with you to the Summer Institute. To verify attendance, have a host sign this form at the conclusion of each presentation you attend. A certificate of attendance will also be provided via e-mail upon request. It is your responsibility to contact your Staff Development Contact prior to sending the documentation to them to ensure that you have completed all your school district’s requirements.

Follow-up Activities

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for Speech Language Pathologists:
Pinellas County Schools will be sponsoring the CEUs for SLPs for this conference. SLPs may earn 6 hours per day. CEUs provided will be State of Florida CEUs (which are reciprocal with ASHA). Please pick up CEU information from the Continuing Education Sign-In Table daily. You will be required to write a brief summary of each session you attend. You must return your completed form at the end of each day to the Continuing Education Table. CEU Certificates of Completion will be mailed to you following the conference.
